City Male Initiative
POPULATION SERVED: HOMELESS MALES LIVING IN CHICAGO LAND AREA.

Goal: To assist unemployed, homeless, males achieve abstinence from alcohol or any mind or mood altering substances, develop a recovery support network, gain employment, and obtain a living environment conducive to recovery.

A special population for indigent (homeless) males that live in the Chicago land area.

Males residing at A Safe Haven under this initiative must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be assessed as having a substance abuse problem.
2. Last known address is in Chicago.
3. Homeless or at risk of homelessness.
4. Have no other means to receive substance abuse services

Males residing at A Safe Haven under this initiative must meet the following program requirements:

1. Agree and complete a substance abuse assessment.
2. Engage and complete outpatient services.
3. Attend employment readiness sessions.
4. Adhere to all of A Safe Haven rules and regulations.
5. Obtain Employment.

DOC (Department of Corrections) Women
POPULATION SERVED: CRIMINAL JUSTICE

Goal: To assist females paroled from the Department of Corrections to transition from incarceration to Independent Living and remain alcohol and drug free.

This special population is for paroled females. Females residing at A Safe Haven under this program must meet the following criteria:

Assessed as having an alcohol or drug problem.
Be paroled from the Department of Corrections.
Females residing at A Safe Haven under this program must meet the following program criteria:

1. Agree to complete an assessment for:
  a. Substance abuse
  b. Job readiness
  c. Parenting
  d. Accept appropriate referral for any of the above as needed.
2. Complete requirements of the referral for any of the above.
3. Adhere to all of A Safe Haven rules and regulations.
4. Obtain employment.

Drug Court
POPULATION SERVED: CRIMINAL JUSTICE

Goal: To assist males and females to achieve abstinence from alcohol or any other mind or mood altering substance, develop a recovery support network, and meet the mandated court requirements of the Markham and Maywood drug court.

This special program is for males and females referred from the Markham and Maywood drug court as an alternative to incarceration.

Males and females residing under this program must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be assessed as having a substance abuse problem.
2. Must be referred by the Markham or Maywood Drug Court.
3. Must meet all requirements as required by the Drug Court.
4. Must be willing to follow all of the rules and regulations of A Safe Haven.

HIV Aids
POPULATION SERVED: MALES WITH HIV/AIDS

Goal: To assist males that has tested positive for HIV / AIDS achieve abstinence from alcohol or any mind or mood altering substance, develop a recovery support network, develop a support network as it pertains to HIV / AIDS infection, and obtain a living environment conducive to recovery.

This special population is for homosexual or HIV/AIDS males that have been assessed as having substance abuse problems. Males residing at A Safe Haven under this program must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be referred by The Pride Institute.
2. Must meet all outpatient requirements of the Pride Institute.
3. Must be assessed as having a substance abuse problem.
4. Must be willing to follow all of the rules and regulations of A Safe Haven.

Male Family Reunification
POPULATION SERVED: INDIGENT MALES

Goal: To assist indigent males to achieve abstinence from alcohol or any other mind or mood altering substances, develop a recovery support network, obtain employment, and enhance relationships with family.

This special population is for indigent (homeless) males. Males residing at A Safe Haven under this program must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be assessed as having a substance abuse problem.
2. Homeless or at risk of homelessness.
3. Have no other means of receiving substance abuse services.

Males residing at A Safe Haven under this program must meet the following program criteria:

1. Agree to complete an assessment for:
  a. Substance Abuse
  b. Job readiness
  c. Parenting
2. Accept appropriate referral for any of the above as needed.
3. Complete requirements of the referral of any of the above.
4. Adhere to all of A Safe Haven rules and regulations.
5. Obtain employment.

RRP (Criminal Justice)
POPULATION SERVED: CRIMINAL JUSTICE

Goal: To assist TASC referred males and females to achieve abstinence from alcohol or any other mind or mood altering substances, develop a recovery support network, and meet the court mandated requirements of TASC.

This program was developed as an alternative to incarceration. Males and females residing under this program must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be referred by TASC.
2. Must be assessed as having an alcohol and drug problem.
3. Must be willing to follow all of the rules and regulations of A Safe Haven.
4. Must agree to stay 120 days.

SWICC (South West Illinois Correction Center)
POPULATION SERVED: CRIMINAL JUSTICE

Goal: To assist males paroled from the South West Illinois Correctional Center to transition from incarceration to Independent Living and remain alcohol and drug free.

This special population is for paroled males. Males residing at A Safe Haven under this program must meet the following criteria.

1. Assessed as having an alcohol or drug problem.
2. Be paroled from SWICC.
3. Must agree to a minimum of 30 days stay.

Males residing at A Safe Haven under this program must meet the following program criteria:

1. Agree to complete an assessment for:
  a. Substance abuse
  b. Job readiness
  c. Parenting
2. Accept appropriate referral for any of the above as needed.
3. Complete requirements of the referral of any of the above.
4. Adhere to all of A Safe Haven rules and regulations.
5. Obtain employment.

TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
POPULATION SERVED: WOMEN RECEIVING (DHS) TANF FUNDS

Goal: To assist Women achieve abstinence from alcohol or any mind or mood altering substances, develop a recovery support network, gain employment and become self sufficient.

This special population is for women that have are currently receiving TANF benefits and have been assessed as having substance abuse problems. Females residing at A Safe Haven under this program must meet the following criteria:

1. Agree to complete an assessment for:
  a. Substance Abuse
  b. Job readiness
  c. GED Education
  d. Parenting
2. Accept appropriate referral for any of the above as needed.
3. Complete requirements of the referral of any of the above.
4. Adhere to all of A Safe Haven rules and regulations.
5. Obtain employment

Women with Children (DCFS-OASA Initiative)
POPULATION SERVED: WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN
This special population is for women with open DCFS cases and their children also women receiving TANF benefits and their children ages 5 years old and younger are also eligible. Women and their children under this initiative must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be assessed as having a substance abuse problem.
2. Must have an open DCFS case.
3. Children are 5years old and younger.
4. Must be receiving TANF benefits.

Women and their children residing at A Safe Haven under this initiative must meet the following program requirements:

1. Meet all requirements stated in their DCFS Service Plan.
2. Agree to complete an assessment for:
  a. Job readiness
  b. Parenting
  c. Family Counseling
  d. Domestic Violence
3. Accept appropriate referral for any of the above as needed.
4. Complete requirements of the referral of any of the above.
5. Adhere to all of A Safe Haven rules and regulations.
6. Establish childcare.
7. Obtain employment.
